Chaos has continued to ensue at the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) with the latest being Spokesperson Chris Akufuna also resigning with immediate effect. Essau Chulu, however and in typical fashion, wants to rig that his contract has came to an end.
Earlier this week, ECZ Director Priscilla Isaacs also verbally indicated to the ECZ Chairperson Essau Chulu that she wants to resign and lead a quite life as her conscious was troubling her following the scandalous August 2016 elections.
Priscilla Isaacs is also now under pressure from Samuel Chavula who she assisted to gain access to the restricted ECZ servers to rig elections for Edgar Lungu but has not been paid his money.
Impeccable sources from within the ECZ say Priscilla Isaacs has had several meetings recently at a named Lodge with Chavula where she was threatened that he will reveal everything that he did if he’s not paid his money.
Priscilla Isaacs problems are that even the PF Government and party leadership officials that had promised to pay Chavula have now disappeared and not answering phone calls.
So far, ECZ Head of IT division Brown Kasaro also tendered his resignation letter citing numerous irregularities in the management of the elections.
Two ECZ Commissioners David Matongo and Dr. Frederick Ng’andu also left the commission unceremoniously following massive differences with Essau Chulu who is also Rupiah Banda’s nephew and a former workmate to Lungu at some law firm in Kitwe.
Akufuna handed over his resignation letter on Tuesday morning and immediately started packing.
Insiders say there is massive pressure from both local and international bodies on the ECZ following the discredited manner in which they handled the August elections.
The Zambian Eagle understands that some Commissioners and members of stuff also want to distance themselves from the discredited commission as they fear being locked up with some officials in government who were giving them wrong instructions.
Most donors are also not happy that their support to the ECZ is not yielding the desired results in terms of deepening democracy in the country, as a result they are under pressure from their countries.
They are also embarrassed that a number of suppliers to the ECZ have not been paid their money on grounds that ECZ has no money yet a very expensive Dubai based Printing company was contracted when there were cheaper options.
The Zambian Eagle will soon reveal the documentation and cartels on how the the whole scheme was done in rigging for Lungu in collusion with some key support stuff.
