‘We have always been ready for trial. I am in court because of hatred. We need a dedicated judge to deal with our matter expeditiously,” Hichilema said, before being led back to prison.
PF cadre David Simusamba has today agreed to let the High Court handle HH’s trumped up treason charge. This was after HH through his lawyers rejected the discredited magistrate’s judicial review order which was designed to keep HH in jail longer. The Zambian Mandela remains in prison. Date for trial in the High Court has not been set and a judge has not yet been allocated .
He was greeted by the UPND Vice-President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM, MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba, ADD President Charles Milupi, APP President Michael Mulongoti, several UPND leaders and MPs.
UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and his vice Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba briefed each other as they awaited Magistrate David Simusamba to guide whether the alleged treason charge should be referred to the High court for trials. The court was full to capacity as several opposition leaders, freedom fighters and senior citizens like Vernon Mwanga and chiefs were in attendance.
